Managing Tasks and Projects
How can I create project templates?
Project templates are easy with Hitask. Create a project and its tasks. Then Archive the whole project. The next time you need to create a project from the template, go to Archive and expand the project and select "Restore copy".
How to move existing task into a project?
Simply drag and drop it into the project: Switch to Group by Project tab. Expand "Items not in project" Drag item into the project.
I click on Remove Completed Tasks but some tasks are not removed. Why?
Tasks assigned to you by other users cannot be removed by you. Instead, when you use Remove Completed, these tasks will return to their original owner.
How do I delete tasks and projects?
To delete a task or project, open it for editing by clicking the task text or project title. Then you will see the "Delete" button at the bottom of the expanded task.
How can I change the order in which projects are listed?
You can rearrange projects when in Sort By Priority mode. Use the drag handle, located to the right from project name. Grab it with your mouse and drag up/down where you want the project to move.
Can my team see all my projects and tasks?
Nobody will see your projects or tasks until you assign task to that person (drag task and drop it on teammate). In a Business Account, you may select if item is private or shared. Private items stay private and nobody can see them. Shared items are visible to the whole Business team.
We use Hitask in a team and we don't understand why we can't see each others tasks without having to drag them to individual people.
With Free and Premium accounts your tasks are not shared. You need to explicitly assign task to other person. To share tasks and projects with team upgrade to a Hitask Business account.
How can I print my tasks?
There is an "Print" menu at the top of your screen. Select it to print your tasks in various layouts.
How to change the date format?
Just click on the Settings link at the top of the screen while you're logged into Hitask. On the Settings screen you can adjust your preferences such as date and time format, and the starting day of the week.
Is it possible to have recurring items, like birthdays or weekly meetings?
While you are modifying an item, look for the "Repeat:" selection below the dates. Note that the "Repeat" option will not appear until you set the start date.
Is there any way to invite a team member to an event?
You can send an event to team member by dropping it on their name in contact list or by assigning it to them in the "Assign To" selection in the Task details menu.
General Questions
Do you accept credit card payments?
Yes. To pay pay using a credit card select Credit Card payment option on the PayPal payment page. It's on the left side of the page.
I can't hear sounds when reminder pops up or when I go to alarm settings.
Sounds require Adobe Flash plugin. Please make sure your browser has the Flash plugin installed. This plugin is included with Internet Explorer. For other browsers like Firefox you may need to download it yourself.
I am managing a small project or company with few teammates involved. Do all of my team members need to have Premium or Business accounts?
You will only need one Business account for yourself. You will invite your team members into your Business, their accounts will become members of your Business account.
Which browsers are supported?
All modern browsers are supported. This includes Internet Explorer, Firefox, Chrome, Opera, Safari.It's not recommended to use old versions of browsers such as Firefox 1.0, Internet Explorer 6 and earlier. With these browsers, Hitask may work slowly and some features may not work at all. For best performance we recommend using the latest versions of Firefox, Safari or Chrome.
Data Import and Export
How do I add Hitask to Google Calendar?
To add to Google Calendar, click on the Export button in menu bar at the top of the page and then select Google Calendar.
I am using Hitask calendar with Google Calendar but the changes made in Hitask do not update in Google Calendar.
Hitask provides an iCalendar feed that is available any time and contain all your current tasks. It's up to Google Calendar to access this feed periodically and update its calendar with items from Hitask.
Unfortunately Google Calendar updates the feed only once a day. There is no setting that you can adjust in Google Calendar to make it update more frequently. It is a problem of Google calendar that has been known for years and we can only hope Google will someday do something about it.
How can I export my tasks to Google Calendar, iCalendar, Sunbird, and Outlook?
Use the Export button in the top navigation bar to generate an iCalendar link. Then simply paste this link into the application to import your tasks, such as Google Calendar, iCal, or Outlook.
How do I export data to a text file?
To Export to a CSV-formatted text file, click on the Export button in top menu bar and then select CSV file. This file can be imported into spreadsheet applications such as Excel, Numbers, OpenOffice.
I sent an email to my account @hitask.com but a task is not created. Why?
The email message must be "From:" an email address associated with your account or one of your team members. If you want to be able to send yourself tasks from more email accounts, simply add those addresses as your Friends.
Can Hitask notify me about tasks by e-mail?
Yes. Once you confirmed your email address, go to Settings and check "Notify me by e-mail" in the Reminders tab.
When I try to enter my e-mail address on the "Settings" page, it says that address is already in use by somebody else.
It may be that there is another account registered for your e-mail address. Please use the "Forgot password" link at the login page and the password for that account will be sent to your e-mail address. Then you will be able to login and delete that account and register the new one.
I haven't received a confirmation e-mail. I checked my SPAM and it's not there either.
For reasons beyond our control, your email service provider may not accept confirmation messages or is unable to deliver it. This is usually caused by anti-spam measures. You may try one of the following:
- Double-check the e-mail address you're entering. This mistake is more common than you think.
- Add noreply@hitask.com to your contacts. With services like Msn, Hotmail, Yahoo Mail you have more chances receiving the message if our email address noreply@hitask.com is added to your contacts.
- Try using a different email address. For example, if you don't have success receiving a confirmation email to Hotmail account, try using your Gmail address.
We recommend Gmail as most reliable: there are no problems receiving confirmation email with Gmail accounts.
My Account
How can I delete my account?
To delete your account, sign in to Hitask click on Settings and select My Hitask Account tab. Then click on "Cancel and remove my Hitask account" to proceed.Business accounts are not able to be deleted.
My team members can currently see only the tasks/notes assigned to them specifically. How can I get all my team members to see certain items?

Do I need to delete my Free account if I want to subscribe to Hitask Premium or Business?
No. Simply upgrade your current account. Go Settings and click on "My account" then "Upgrade to Premium" or "Upgrade to Business". All your tasks, projects, and friends will be carried over!
Business Account
Do you have a trial Business account?
No. You may want to try the Business account for one month as a trial. The Hitask subscription is a no-commitment, one-time charge. We do not store your payment information and we will not charge you at the end of your subscription should you decide not to continue using Hitask.
With the purchase of a Business account, is it a cost per month for the entire team or for each user?
The monthly subscription includes 5 Business user licenses (accounts). You may invite your team members to join your Business account and they will have their accounts upgraded to the Business level. You can upgrade the number of licenses at any time or select more than 5 when you upgrade to a Business account.
When I upgrade to a Business account, will everyone be able to see all of the tasks and projects?
With a Hitask Business account, you are able to set tasks and projects to Private or Shared. Shared items are visible to all of the members of your team. Private items are visible only to you, or the person you assign the task to.
How can I change my Business Account owner/administrator?
We can change the owner for you. To do that, please send a request from the business owner account using the "Say Hi!" link in the top menu, or Contact Us links. Please, specify the user account (email address) of whom you want to become the new business account owner.
Who is the Business account administrator?
The business account owner and administrator is the person who purchased the account. This person is responsible for making payments for account renewals and responsible for adding/removing users from the Business team.
How many users can I add to my Business Account?
There is no limit of how many users you can have in your business account. When subscribing to a Business Account you may select 5,10,20 or more user licenses. You can also buy additional number of user licenses at any time in the Settings menu.
How does the Business Account registration work?
The Business account is registered by one person, the business account owner. The owner then invites other users to their Business account and manages all of the aspects of business account. All of the users who have been invited to the Business account have full access to the Hitask Business and Premium features.
File Attachments
I am dragging a file into the browser window, but instead of uploading, the browser tries to open file.
Not all browsers support the drop upload feature. Modern browsers that support HTML5, such as FireFox and Chrome, support drop upload functions.
I am uploading a file and getting "File upload failed" error.
There are multiple factors that may cause upload error:
- Internet connection problems. Try to upload file again
- If you're using Internet Explorer we recommend using FireFox or Chrome instead
- Browser add-ons and plugins. Add-ons like FireBug, Greasemonkey and similar are not compatible
